Star Trek vs. Racism- a meaningful post

Star Trek happened in the 1960s when racism was still a problem in the west, especially America. Yet, despite everything, there was an African-American woman, a Japanese man and a Russian man all in charge of stations on the ship and recurring cast members. Just one of the reasons Star Trek is brilliant. And Voyager has a Native American on as Commander, and all the other examples, aside from the fact that you really do have different races (Vulcans, Bajorans, other ones I can't spell) . Only watching Star Trek again now that I'm not, like, seven makes me realize that the technology isn't the only futuristic thing about it. Gene Roddenberry was quite a visionary. I suppose we can only try to make an Earth as peaceful as the one in Star Trek. Meanwhile, we can all start by trying our best to get over our prejudices, however an impossible task that may seem

A Song of Ice and Fire- don't read the blurbs!

Okay so I'm currently reading A Game of Thrones, and when I was given A Clash of Kings and A Storm of Swords part 1 for Christmas, I read the blurbs of them, as you do, and managed to spoiler something I think is going to be fairly major for myself. So the moral is, don't read the blurbs of the next book!!

Sherlock's back- Oops, it's gone again

Sherlock Season 3- Contains Several Spoilers

Well, for any Sherlockians out there January 2014 was the month the two year hiatus finally ended, and three more 90 minute episodes arrived to our screens courtesy of BBC. Opinions on these were mixed. Some thought they were too light, others thought they portrayed the human side of Sherlock, many believed they found the plot lines on tumblr and in fan fiction (especially that Sheriarty one, although no complaints here, I only envy Andrew Scott). And as another hiatus begins, season 3 has left the internet in even more turmoil than it found it. Only now we can be sure we'll be getting season 4. And there is speculation http://uk.news.yahoo.com/sherlock-season-4-premiere-date-revealed-065112418.html#yNQPr3z that we could get it as early as Christmas, if the actors can make it to film. So, we've got all year to wonder and go insane, and if you're good maybe Moriarty will give you a Christmas present to remember. The year Sherlock didn't take two years to return. I hope this news will brighten your January, since the sun doesn't seem to be doing that very well.
